Medicare Part B
Medical insurance covering doctor visits, outpatient care, and preventive services.
Full Definition
Medicare Part B covers medically necessary services like doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and durable medical equipment. Most people pay a standard monthly premium (adjusted for higher incomes). There is an annual deductible, after which Medicare pays 80% of approved amounts and you pay 20% (coinsurance). A Medigap policy can cover that 20%.
Real-World Example
Your doctor orders an MRI and follows up in their office. Part B covers the outpatient MRI and office visit after you've met your Part B deductible.
